Free & Low-Cost Math, Reading & STEM Support for Students

Local Study is a nonprofit education organization helping students build confidence in math, reading, and hands-on STEM learning. We provide free and low-cost academic support for local families who need accessible learning help outside the regular school day.

Our goal is simple: make high-quality learning support easier to find, easier to afford, and easier to use. Students receive patient instruction, practice activities, and encouragement designed to strengthen literacy, numeracy, problem solving, and curiosity.

What We Do

Local Study provides learning support in three core areas:

Math Foundations

Students practice number sense, arithmetic, fractions, algebra readiness, problem solving, homework skills, and confidence with step-by-step math instruction.

Reading Success

Students receive support with phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing basics, and habits that help them become stronger readers.

STEM Explorers

Students participate in simple, hands-on STEM activities that connect science, technology, engineering, and math to real-world curiosity and problem solving.

Who We Serve

Local Study serves school-age students and families who need free or affordable academic support. We prioritize students who benefit from extra help in foundational math, reading, and STEM skills.

Families may request support for tutoring, homework help, small-group learning, office hours, reading practice, math practice, and enrichment activities. Services are offered free or at low cost depending on program availability, volunteer support, and family need.

How to Get Started

1. Complete the learning support request form.

2. Tell us the student’s grade level, subject needs, and availability.

3. A Local Study team member will follow up with next steps.

4. Students are matched with available learning support options.

No student should be left without help simply because tutoring is hard to access or too expensive. Local Study exists to close that gap.
